We are continuing our 10 day stay at the Maumelle Park near Little Rock Arkansas. This is a great location and one of our favorite parks so far. It does not hurt that with our Senior America the Beautiful National Park passes we get 50% off camp fees. A sweet package deal. Continue reading “Little Rock, AR #2 and other thoughts”
Exploring Little Rock, AR
We have been in Little Rock for 5 days now out of our 10 days of booked reservations. This will be one of the longer stays in one campground. Maybe the 3rd or 4th longest stay. And well worth it. There have been many things to see in the city, but it has been difficult to leave the park as it is such a welcoming and picturesque site along the river. Southward to Arkansas
Having the microwave replaced we are free again to hit the road! The days in Missouri have cooled off to be a pleasant 75 degrees for highs and mid 50s at night. And the leaves have been falling like crazy. It is truly starting to feel like fall and our schedule dictates that we need to keep moving south to winter in Florida. So, after a 2-week stay we packed up, stowed stuff away, unhooked our connections, and attached the camper to the truck. Off we go! Continue reading “Southward to Arkansas”
Branson Missouri; Vacation!
Yes, we took a quick getaway to drive over to Branson for 2 days and 1 night and had an absolutely great time! It was only a 2-hour drive from our campsite near Mountain View. Just as a reminder, we stayed a couple of weeks in Mountain View waiting for the warranty replacement of our convection microwave. Continue reading “Branson Missouri; Vacation!”
Mountain View, Missouri
This relocation has to be one of the easiest to navigate yet. From Sikeston to Dexter the landscape is completely flat. You can see for miles. Once you reach Dexter and Crowley’s Ridge, things start to get interesting. West of Poplar Bluff and the hills become like roller coasters. We moved from SE Missouri to Mountain View, Missouri in the south central part of the state all along US-60. In the heart of the Ozarks! Continue reading “Mountain View, Missouri”
Sikeston Missouri; Hinton RV Park; & Dexter MO
After a few weeks of visiting people and places in Indiana and seeing new places in Illinois, it was time to relocate our 40 foot home to a location on the other side of the mighty Mississippi River. It was about 200 miles and a 4 hour drive including one stop along the I-57 southbound route. Continue reading “Sikeston Missouri; Hinton RV Park; & Dexter MO”
Effingham Illinois; Camp Lakewood Campground; Terre Haute Indiana Day Trip
After a couple of weeks of exploring our old haunts in Indiana and visiting with family, we drove the 4 hour trip over to Illinois. Effingham is south central in the state and is located on the junction of two major interstates: I-70 and I-57. Our route was quite easy through Lafayette to Ind-231 down to I-74 to Illinois then to I-57 south. Continue reading “Effingham Illinois; Camp Lakewood Campground; Terre Haute Indiana Day Trip”
Indiana Part 3; Meeting Friends & Saying Goodbyes
We stayed in the Hoosier State for about 3 weeks and this wraps up most of the visit. We enjoyed many family visits and explored many new areas of the state. Continue reading “Indiana Part 3; Meeting Friends & Saying Goodbyes”
Indiana Part 2; Lafayette & Prophetstown State Park
We moved up the state of Indiana on Aug. 20th to one of the nicest state park RV campgrounds that I have ever seen. Prophetstown State Park. Also one of the newest in Indiana. Plenty of green spaces, many trees between campsites, and wide open prairies. And miles of hiking/biking trails. We moved from Indy to near West Lafayette, only about 80 miles. Nice! Continue reading “Indiana Part 2; Lafayette & Prophetstown State Park”
Back Home Again in Indiana!
We had a nice short 2.5 hour re-positioning from Ohio to the near south side of Indianapolis. We like these uneventful travels with very few road changes. Our campground here just served as a spot to plug in the camper and then to visit with some family. The title of this post is the theme song of the state and is sung before the Indy 500 mile race. Used to be sung by Jim Nabors. Jim is still living and is best known for this song. He may have also been on the Mayberry show. Continue reading “Back Home Again in Indiana!”
