Old Ft. Jackson, Wormsloe Estate, and a Brewery

As we are now into our last week in Savannah, GA, we are beginning to get back in the travel mode.  I have done some trip planning with preferred routes.  I also filled up the truck’s 50 gallon diesel fuel tank.  It was great to be able to use my Kroger $.40 per gallon discount!  I still need to wash the vehicles and wax the camper.  I try to wax the camper about every 3-4 months.  A big job!  So, some work time ahead and more exploring as well. Savannah GA; More Tours & Dinner at the Olde Pink House

We continue to love the charm of this cool old southern town.  And we are very fortunate to being able to share some of the time with our family in from Texas.  Mike and Lorna were here for five days and we packed a ton of things into that short time.  Enough sight seeing for two blog posts!  Plus we tried many restaurants and a few bars for liquid refreshments as well.  In this post we’ll review the rest of their visit and then saying our goodbyes. Savannah GA; Family Visit & St. Patrick’s Day

We are now into our third week stationed just outside of the beautiful city of Savannah, GA.  We decided to return again this year after visiting for one week last year in May.  The timing of our visit in the month of March has been close to perfect.  All of the azaleas and camellias have been bursting in full bloom.  The temperatures have been cooler, we experienced the St. Patrick’s Day celebration in this crazy town, and best of all, we had a visit from family from Texas! Continue reading “Savannah GA; Family Visit & St. Patrick’s Day”

Savannah GA; Tybee Island, Ft. Pulaski, and Family Arrives

As we are into our second week at our Savannah, Georgia location, we are excited about a visit from family and to see the many things we missed in our first trip here.  You really need two weeks or longer to enjoy the many features of this historic city.  In this post, I will review our trips to Tybee Island and to the Fort Pulaski.  We have two more weeks here before moving northward again. Savannah: Week #1, Historical District Walking Tours

We are now into our eleventh month as full-time RVers after I retired from my accounting job and the company I worked at for 44 years.  It is hard to imagine sometimes.  In our travels so far we have found a few gems that left us wanting to come back for another visit.  Savannah GA is one of those places.  We have three more weeks remaining for our stay here that includes a visit from some family that we are excited about. Continue reading “Savannah: Week #1, Historical District Walking Tours”

Randy’s Tangy Meatloaf Recipe

Well, this is a first for me!  A recipe on my blog.  Rest assured, this blog will continue to be about our travels and life as full-time RVers.  After retiring, one of the things that I wanted to spend some time doing is cooking.  I have done a lot of cooking outdoors on the grill and still learn some new tricks there too.  So far I have tried a few different things in the kithen.  One was a tomato and basil bisque that we tried at Cafe Margaux in Cocoa, Florida (thanks to my cousin’s wife Carol for this place).  Recipe link here. Last Week at Orchid Lake RV Resort (FL) and Travel Days to Savannah, GA

Our month-long stay at the Orchid Lake RV Resort is now over and we have traveled the 320 or so miles north to Savannah, GA.  The month of February just flew by like crazy.  I thought time went slowly while working.  But now, it is like a hyperdrive.  Kind of scary.  The highlights of our month there were meeting many friendly people and making some new friends.  We also enjoyed the warmest February on record for the Tampa, FL area.  Very nice.
