Hurricane Status – Friday 9/14

Yesterday was a sunny and mostly clear day.  Although the winds have picked up a bit.  This weather was due to a high pressure cell located in southwest Virginia.  That will all change by later on today as the Hurricane Florence approaches.  The calm before the storm…

We have planned to stay at an RV park in Fort Chiswell Virginia, not too far from two of our adult children.  The plan is to monitor the hurricane and move farther west if needed.  The tricky part is to have this information before the weather gets too bad to actually move.

Today we are shopping for a new small car for Pat since her Ford Explorer has too many issues to get it road worthy.  That and restocking our food supply and prepping for potential power outages.

The national hurricane center map shows our location to be on the edge of the 4-6″ and the 6-10 inches of rain.  Will the RV park get flooded if we get that much rain?  I asked them if they have ever had any flooding and the answer was no.  I’m also a bit skeptical though.

National Hurricane service map as of 7am on 9/14/18.

I also asked for a site with no close trees.  So, we are in the wide open and in a little lower section of the park.

Prayers for the people close to the storm’s landfall.  The news is reporting that it will make landfall soon.

More to come…
