Savannah, Ga Stopover

We are back to our usual route south to Florida down through South Carolina and eastern Georgia then into Florida. This route has been heavily traveled over the years even before the RV travels. Interstate 95 is the major pipeline for snowbirds from the eastern part of the US and Canada. We had an enjoyable three day stopover in one of our favorites: Savannah, Ga.

It was some rainy weather for two of the days, but one day was perfect. Some walking around on the old cobblestone and brick sidewalks, lots of gawking at the historic homes, and enjoying the 22 park like squares. And we did enjoy some great dining as well. It is one of my few weaknesses. 🙂

Although we always enjoy this classic city that was developed by General James Oglethorpe, when we make this as our route, we leave some other locations as “unexplored.” I suppose these other places will just have to wait there turn. We may get there eventually.

Our dinning out included lunch at Huey’s Southern Cafe, an authentic New Orleans style cuisine and of course the Olde Pink House, one of the finest in town.

The challenge is to walk around 6-7 miles a day to burn off some of the calories consumed. But with the rainy days, I suspect the calorie count may have won, but I am staying away from any scales.

Speaking of walking, my quest to walk an average three miles a day over the year was somewhat thwarted by the Covid bug. Feeling like being sick, dizzy, and headaches will surely slow one down as evidenced by my walking chart. There is always the 2022 new years resolution to get back at the three mile mark.

The temperatures were pleasantly cool at 62-65 degrees for our stay. A light jacket worked out just fine. Looking ahead to Florida, temps are still in the 80’s. Here we come…

Thanks for following along. Take care and God Bless.
