Family Thanksgiving

The Thanksgiving holiday is one of my favorites. Time with family and a healthy amount of great meals. It also is a time to reflect on what we have to be thankful for. From our freedoms living in this great country to our many blessings to our beliefs. It was a full house as our son and daughter-in-law from DC came to visit along with our local son and daughter as well. It was a great time!

Thanksgiving Dinner

Everyone had a dish or two they were preparing so the kitchen was the hot spot on Thanksgiving Day. Pat had also prepped several other dishes the day before. Audrey made the yeast dinner rolls, Jennifer made the apple salad, Ross made the cranberry sauce, Bryan made the Shake Family dumplings and green beans, Randy baked the turkey and made oyster dressing, and Pat made everything else (mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes), and coordinated the whole circus.

Bryan and Jenn also brought four fresh baked pies from a bakery in DC. They were some of the best that I have had, and I am something of a pie connoisseur. Red Truck Bakery. They brought an apple, pecan, pumpkin, and mincemeat pieces. After three days there were only a few crumbs leftover.

We also played pool in the basement, went for a long walk to Bisset Park, visited a winery and a distillery in the Radford/Fairlawn area, played corn hole, and played several games. It was an enjoyable family time!

Other Stuff

I was barely able to schedule in a dinner meeting with my old work pals. The day before leaving for Florida, we found a day that worked for four of our local five retirees from Federal-Mogul, my old employer. It was great to catch up with them, hear all the stories, and congratulate David again on his recent retirement.

We are now in Florida at our winter RV park in New Port Richie. Next up will be our four days stopover in Savannah, Georgia. Take care and God Bless.
