Byron & LeRoy New York

We moved about 125 miles on this leg of the journey and stopped in Byron NY for a midway stop on our way to Niagara Falls and Canada.  A good short distance without any driving issues with the big 5th wheel.  Our campground was the Southwoods RV Resort in Byron NY which is in the north west section of the state.  While they had some very nice facilities, we were in an overflow lot with way too many other campers jammed into the space.  We were there for two nights – July 14 & 15th. Corning New York and the Ives Run Corps of Engineers Park (COE) in Tioga, PA

We moved from the Kutztown, PA area to a new park in the north central part of Pennsylvania.  The park/campground is near Tioga, PA and was built by the Corps of Engineers as a flood control reservoir.  This 200 campsite park is built on the shores of Hammond Lake with tons of green space and boating/kayaking opportunities.  We had a level full hook up site, so life is good!  We were only able to stay 5 days because they were full at the weekends due to others having booked it up some 6 months in advance. Washington D.C. Part 2

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to our nation’s capital.  What a diverse, active, and vibrant city.  So many people going about their daily lives.  Most all in support of our federal government in some fashion.  You have to wonder if it really takes this many people and support to help run the country.  In many cases, I have been a supporter of reducing the over grown federal government and the spending that goes along with it.  You have to ask what real value are most of these thousands of people adding to the security and economy of our country (I found the total number of federal employees at over 4 million including military). James River State Park & Those Pesky Low Clearances

After our trip to the RV dealer for some warranty work, we drove about 100 miles to the north east to the perfect rural spot to enjoy some peace and quiet, hiking, and some history all thrown in – James River State Park. The access road into the park is longish and is basically a single lane.  It is fine for our big rig until you meet another vehicle coming the other way and they have to drive off onto the convenient grassy area. The park did have some large heavily wooded campsites with huge separation between campers. Continue reading “James River State Park & Those Pesky Low Clearances”

Travel Day to Asheboro, NC and RV Repairs

Today actually worked out much better than I expected.  We began the day with an early start to be able to make our 9:00 am appointment at RV Outlet near Myrtle Beach for some warranty repairs.  I had heard/read many RV repair horror stories over the last few years, so I guess that I had some low expectations and was prepared to battle it out to get a few repairs done while we waited. Walks on the Beach & Huntington Beach State Park

We are nearing the end of our stay in Myrtle Beach and will be heading back inland tomorrow morning.  It’s time for a different geographic phase of our travels.  We have been walking along the beach every morning and enjoying the beautiful views.  While we are not real beach people, but we do love to walk along the cool surf waters and look for shells or sea life.
